So our smaller teaching gallery somehow ended up randomly open with our larger gallery showing an exhibition this week which gives our art club a chance to show some work... problem is we found out basically at the end of last week that it was available so from noon today to noon tomorrow we're having a 24 hour art making extravaganza to fill the show. !!Yay!!
So we randomly selected a color, object, and noun out of piles for our subject matter and tada, the show is "Blue-violet, Trees, Fury".
It seems silly but it's been a lot of fun. Even one of the professors participating seems less uptight than usual (he loves collaborative work, even had one posted on his door for a while). Participants can work on a piece solely or set it in a pile to be shared with others.

Basically it's a blast, and the point of this journal to recommend it. Even if you just invite a group of friends over or make it something more serious. Eat, watch movies, whatever you want while you do it.

A lot of people seem stressed out with their work (especially with class work assignments), that I think we need to remember that we can HAVE FUN.

My school offers an Intro to Mexican Art and Culture course every other year which I was signed up for but because of the serious swine flu that has now erupted in the main areas we would be traveling (Mexico City and Oaxaca), the trip has been canceled. A week after our professors had decided to go ahead with the trip despite outbreaks of violence because of stupid drugs and the stupid demand for them. And because it's so late, we can't really get together a trip elsewhere not that any of the available locations were anywhere close dynamically to Mexico.
GRRRRRRR!!

But I get to live, YAY!
We were all really excited to go, professors included.
But oh well, now my family and concerned friends will be happy that I am here and safe and going nowhere.

Now I just have to figure out what I want my independent study to be so that I can make up those credits I've now lost. My prof had suggested doing an interview with a Latin American Artist here or doing some sort of Photo exhibit depicting Mexican influences here where I live, of which there is a substantial amount.

Time to think.
And study.
And make art.
And hopefully get some of it posted.
